Child Car Seats Available for Low-Income Families

Thanks to the generosity of BCAA and United Way (Lower Mainland), low-income families on Cortes Island can apply to receive a free child car seat through the Cortes Community Health Association Family Support Program.
No proof of income is required. According to 2015 census data, many families of young children on Cortes have a household income well below the poverty line. 2015 Median Income for 2 parent families on Cortes Island: $47,616 gross compared to $111,736 BC median. 2015 Median Income for lone-parent families on Cortes Island: $32,683 gross compared to $51,056 BC Median.
